Kyrenia municipal open air market. Here you will find fantastic
value on a vast range of goods, especially fruit, vegetables,
cheeses, yoghurts, oils and vinegars (often brought in from the
country by farming families), fish, footwear, clothing and all sorts

Famagusta Market. Friday weekly.
Here you can buy about everything you might need; clothing,
household items, flowers, fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. You
can also buy freshly pressed olive oil there, mostly made by the
vendor itself (and it does come very often in re-used bottles of

Guzelyurt Market. Saturday weekly.
Everything from clothes, shoes, nuts, sweets, olive oil,
honey, home made cheese as well as fruit and vegetables are sold.
Produce is fresh, and local people are encouraged to sell the excess
from their own gardens. The market opens early, and continues till
about 1pm. It is situated on the main street opposite the museum and

11am. Friends of those in Need coffee morning. The first 3
Wednesdays of the month will be at Ginko Restaurant, Namik Kemal

The
Orchid Walk. Last Sunday in February
Annually.
POSTPONED BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER. NEW DATE PROVISIONALLY 28thMARCH.
10am, The School in Kozan (on the left hand side as you enter the
village). The walk is to raise funds for cancer research. Route is
just under 10kms along the scenic road between Kozan and Karsiyaka on
the southern slopes of the Kyrenia Mountains. Views are stunning,
and the road is tarmac. A saloon car, ambulance and Landrover patrol
the route constantly in case anyone needs a lift or help! The finish
is at the school in Karsiyaka, and walkers tend to cross the Finish
line from 11.30am This annual event attracts about 400 people,
mostly Cypriots, who walk as a fundraiser and awareness of cancer
and cancer research. A group of about 50 people arrive from London
with Professor Mustafa Camgoz, a research scientist at Imperial
College, London. These people have to raise a minimum of £1,200 to
take part. This year, the walk is done in association with the Anglo
Turkish Association. Entry is either by sponsorship, tickets at
30TL each, or donation. For more information contact Maureen

Wild Flower and Orchid Walk, Wednesday 24th February.
Hisarkoy. An all day experience. The morning walk is to the east of
the village over fairly gentle terrain. This lasts about two hours,
and is followed by lunch . The afternoon walk, which also lasts two
hours, is a gentle walk to the west towards an orchard glade, an
area of black tulips and other wild flowers. The
circular route takes in a medieval Maronite church, an Ottoman
Turkish bath and a bronze age tomb. The route is flexible, and can
be varied depending on the needs of the group. The cost is £15 per
person. Numbers are limited, so booking is essential on 0392 721

Carpenters’ market.
Grand Aid, Sunday 28th February.
4pm – 11pm, Pia Bella Hotel. An entertainment extravaganza in aid of

subject of “Cyprus Negotiations and the Coming TRNC Presidential
Eections”. Mr Atakol is a former TRNC Foreign
Minister and author of the book “The Turkish Cypriots and the Greek
Cypriots. Is their separation permanent?” He is a member of the
Besparmark Group, and is a keen environmentalist, being heavily
involved in the Karpaz area. The three course dinner costs 25TL,
